Best Mineral Waters

Mineral waters come from many different countries, have varying levels of minerals (TDS) and mix of mineral that give it its distinct flavor. Mineral water has to have more than 250 TDS and our tap water has 150 - 300 TDS generally in the US. Some mineral waters are naturally carbonated which can increase the amount of minerals water can absorb in the ground. Mineral water can help provide you with essential minerals your body needs for health and also be good beverage option to replace sodas or alcohol.

Here are a few of my favorites you should try!

  1. gerolsteiner

This is the mineral water I keep stocked at my house. It’s called the wellness water due to its very high mineral content. One liter has more calcium than a glass of milk and 30% of your daily recommended magnesium. It is a very balanced water so all of those minerals come across very crisp and do not overwhelm your pallet. This water is also naturally sparkling with a light effervesce.

You can purchase this water at many of the local Austin grocery stores

  2. Topo Chico

There is more than meets the eye with popular mineral water from Mexico. Legend has it that this water saved an Aztec princess’s life and became a well known spring of health and wellness. It is naturally carbonated which helps it hold its bubbles longer. It’s budget friendly and my go to when I’m looking for a different bubbly beverage.

  3. Iskild

ISKILD is from Denmark and is one of the most unique waters around. Highly concentrated with oxygen this water turns cloudy when you shake the bottle. It has a milky, smooth mouthfeel and has a distinctly earthy flavor. This is the water that is served at NOMA one of the most famous restaurants in the world

This water is only available from specialty water distributors. You can purchase this water from Nix Waters

  4. Jermuk

This water is Armenia’s national tonic. It is extremely high in minerals (between 3,300 and 4,700) and naturally carbonated. It has more electrolytes than sports drinks but still has a light and well balanced taste.

This water is available at Borderless European Market in Austin

  5. Vichy Catalan

This is the most popular mineral water in Spain and is also a favorite at my house. It has more electrolytes than a sports drink and is one of the most unique tasting waters.
