What People Are Saying

“As a small business owner I’m always looking for unique ways to serve my clients and team to unique hospitality experiences. Our water-tasting with Whitney of Water Drop was outstanding. The event itself was fun, informative, and truly unique. Not only did we find ourselves fascinated by the experience (similar to how one might with wine tasting) but we had lots of laughs.”

“This tasting was so much fun! My wife and I weren't drinking alcohol at the time and were looking for an event pairing where that wouldn't be a factor. We did the food pairings and they were fantastic and we learned so much from the experience. Whitney is an awesome host and so knowledgable. Can't recommend this enough, 10/10”

FAQs

  • Yes! Some water and most of the water we drink every day is purified and is made to have very little flavor. The waters I choose for the tasting will have contrasting and varying flavors, ph & carbonation.

  • Yes! Water sommeliers are trained in programs around the world—from the Associazione Degustatori Acque Minerali in Italy to the Doemens Academy in Germany to Japan’s Aqua Sommelier Association. In the United States we have the Fine Water Academy where I received my certification.

These courses give students foundational lessons in water tasting: Does the water feel oily or clean on your tongue? What flavors do the blend of minerals in the water, or total dissolved solids (TDS), leave on your palate? Students also learn and are tested on how to pair waters with food—a very mineral-forward water can bring out the saltiness of a steak, for instance, but its strong flavor would overpower most fish dishes. They learn the proper procedure for presenting and pouring water out of bottles tableside—make sure the label is facing out, hold a glass by its stem so that the heat from your hands won't warm the water, and never, ever use ice cubes because their impurities would pollute the taste of the water. - Bon Appetit

  • I love learning new things and when I started learning about water it was so fascinating to know that there was so much I and the general public doesn’t know about one of the most important things to life. I’m also passionate about water conservation and hope that through learning more about water it could raise our appreciation and care for it.

  • Some of the fine waters we taste have been underground for thousands of years. They filter through the earth and take on the beauty of place. Since the beginning of time some of these water sources have been utilized for their curative powers bringing people far and wide to have physical and spiritual wellbeing. Many well-known waters have been distributed throughout Europe as luxury drinks since ancient Roman times.

  • Yes, it kind of is out there and silly! Lean into that. This is supposed to be fun. Why wouldn’t you want to bring people together to experience something new, fun & unique? Come with an open mind and maybe you will be surprised at what you find.

  • Waters will vary from tasting to tasting. I will be bring waters to taste that exemplify interesting stories and tastes from around the world. If you have a special request I can look to include a particular water, we could create a tasting that focuses on water from one country or region or exclude things you know you don’t like.
